It seemed Brighton were set to secure victory at the Amex Stadium after Gabby George put the side ahead with a reactive finish in the 31st minute. However, a late corner was all Aston Villa needed to snatch a point.
While the visitors had largely been forced to sit deep to contend with Albion’s dominance, a superb delivery from Villa right-back Lynn Wilms evaded everyone in the box before nestling into the top corner.
Brighton were subsequently left ruing their missed opportunities, with lively substitute Olivia García being denied twice by Villa goalkeeper Akane Ōkuma, while Madison Haley and Jelena Čanković also squandered promising chances.
