Brighton have often found themselves labelled as a 'selling club' in recent years.

Brighton owner Tony Bloom has played down suggestions that his side are a ‘selling club’.

The Seagulls have gained a reputation in recent years for signing unknown gems for minimal fees, accelerating their development and then selling them on for mammoth profits, with Chelsea duo Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella examples of that.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side sold a host of talented players last summer as well, with Joao Pedro joining the aforementioned duo at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth up to £60million. Julio Enciso, Simon Adingra and Pervis Estupinan also departed.

But despite Brighton’s willingness to offload stars when appropriate offers arrive, Bloom has dismissed having his team labelled as a ‘selling club’ – instead, insisting that nearly all teams follow the trend.
