Brighton’s unbeaten run was brought to a halt on Sunday afternoon as they were handed a 2-0 loss by Liverpool at Anfield.

The Seagulls never truly appeared settled on Merseyside but came close to taking the lead against the run of play after 12 minutes, with Yasin Ayari blazing over the bar after being teed up by Pascal Gross to tap home.

Brighton were made to pay just a matter of minutes later when Florian Wirtz’s strike deflected off Gross and into the back of the net.

Liverpool then extended their advantage in the 21st minute, with Bradley Barcola blocking Olivier Boscagli’s clearance before delicately lifting his pass into the path of Alexander Isak to convert.
