Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler insists that ‘only one team tried to win’ after his side were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

The Seagulls found themselves behind after 17 minutes when Florian Wirtz’s low strike ricocheted off Pascal Gross and into the back of the net.

Liverpool then extended their advantage four minutes later through Alexander Isak, with Bradley Barcola pouncing on a mistake by Olivier Boscagli to tee up the striker to convert from close range.

Brighton had their fair share of chances, though. Yasin Ayari should have opened the scoring on Merseyside when he blazed over with the goal at his mercy. The Swede later struck the outside of the post with a curling effort from distance.
