Newcastle’s long-standing interest in Brighton talisman Joao Pedro looks to have hit a major stumbling block, despite transfer negotiations currently ongoing between the clubs. The Seagulls’ wantaway star has several suitors, with the Magpies increasing their intent in the previous few days.
Eddie Howe’s side were confirmed by Sky Sports News to have bid around £50million for the 23-year-old, however, the offer was rejected by Brighton. The Seagulls are reportedly holding out for at least £60m for Pedro, a valuation that neither outfit have met.
While the south coast side await an improved offer, it has since been reported by AS journalist Eduardo Burgos that Pedro has himself ‘rejected’ a move to Newcastle. While it is unclear as to the further details around the Brazilian’s rebuttal, the news will certainly set the Magpies back in their aspirations of attaining the forward’s signature.
