Luka Vuskovic arrived at Brighton in a deal worth up to £50million this summer, becoming the club’s new record signing. The Croatian joined from Tottenham on a four-year deal alongside 10 other incomings.
It was a successful summer for the Seagulls from a financial perspective, registering a net profit of £15m following the high-profile sales of Carlos Baleba (£65m) and Jan Paul Van Hecke (£52m).
The latter went the other way to Spurs, which made the eventual move for Vuskovic feel like something of a swap deal - plus a few million heading in Brighton’s direction too.
Amid the Premier League’s staggering £3.49billion collective spend over the summer, the signing of Vuskovic already appears to be an excellent piece of business.
