Brighton have reportedly opened talks with Olympique Marseille to discuss recalling Matt O’Riley from his loan spell at the club.
The midfielder struggled for regular opportunities at the Amex Stadium last season, with injuries and form both contributing to his scarce minutes.
O’Riley then went on to feature regularly throughout pre-season before starting the Seagulls' opening two matches of the Premier League campaign – scoring in Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.
Eyebrows were therefore raised when it emerged that O’Riley was heading to Marseille on a season-long loan deal, with manager Roberto De Zerbi making it no secret that he was excited to work with the Denmark international.
