Manchester United and Bayern Munich are reportedly set to be forced back to the drawing board in their respective pursuits of Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

The midfielder has endured a rollercoaster of a campaign so far, largely struggling his way through contests, though he did show glimpses of promise in recent weeks before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite the Cameroon international’s disappointing displays, he is not short of suitors. United, Bayern and Manchester City are among Baleba’s growing list of suitors, with Liverpool and Chelsea loosely linked previously as well.

Brighton have no interest in selling the ex-Lille star in January, but a sale at the end of the season has largely been regarded as the most likely outcome to the saga. However, that no longer appears to be the case.
