Brighton set for cash injection as Man Utd and Arsenal transfer battle heats up
Brighton are set to have their transfer budget boosted by a deal elsewhere in the Premier League.

Brighton are set to pocket a healthy transfer windfall if Viktor Gyokeres is allowed to leave Sporting this summer. The Seagulls sold the Sweden international to Championship side Coventry City for just over £1million in 2021 after he failed to impress during his time at the club and on his loan spells in the Bundesliga 2 and EFL Championship.
The striker did show promise in the U21s, picking up 19 goal contributions in 31 games, so the club inserted a 10% sell-on clause into the deal with Coventry just in case he thrived for them; and he did.
Across the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, Gyokeres scored 40 goals and provided 17 assists in 97 games and that was enough for Sporting to sign the then-25-year-old for around £24m, which Brighton received £2.4m of.
