Manchester United have been urged to consider loaning Kobbie Mainoo to Brighton in the January transfer window.

The Seagulls were linked with a move for the midfielder over the summer after the youngster struggled for minutes under Ruben Amorim last season.

Mainoo’s game time has not improved since, and the playmaker will certainly be seeking a move next month if he is to put himself in the frame for a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Top clubs around Europe have therefore been alerted to the 20-year-old’s situation, but ex-United defender Danny Simpson believes that a six-month spell on the south coast could be the best move for the midfielder.
