Brighton’s model requires a key player or two to be sold each summer, and as soon as the window opened it looked all but certain that one of those sales would be Kaoru Mitoma. However, the Seagulls have been handed a huge boost in their efforts to keep hold of the Japanese superstar.
According to Sky Sports, Mitoma has told Brighton he wants to stay at the club and sign a new deal. The Albion are said to be keen to sit down with him and agree improved terms and an extension as soon as possible.
Tony Bloom wants to reward the 28-year-old with a contract that reflects his importance in Fabian Hurzeler’s squad.
