Brighton are reportedly plotting an ambitious move for Real Madrid youngster Franco Mastantuono.

The versatile forward has struggled to impress since joining Los Blancos from River Plate in a deal worth £34million last summer.

Mastantuono has featured 24 times so far this season in all competitions, but the majority of those appearances have come as a late substitute.

Former manager Xabi Alonso is said to have been the driving force behind Madrid’s pursuit of the 18-year-old, and his successor, Alvaro Arbeloa, is yet to be convinced by the talents of the No. 30.
