West Ham could be set to hand Brighton a major blow if the Seagulls decide to dip into the market to replace Joao Pedro. The Brazilian is set to join Chelsea in a deal worth approximately £60million, with the Blues beating Newcastle in the race to secure his signature.

When the sale is completed, the Seagulls are likely to move for a replacement, but one of their reported first-choice options, Evann Guessand, is firmly in the sights of former manager Graham Potter.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are poised to move for Nice star Guessand in a deal worth around £25million. The Irons want more firepower in their squad and the Ivorian is being prioritised on their targets list, which could be bad news for Brighton given that the 23-year-old was previously cited as being the Seagulls’ top target to replace Pedro.
