Brighton reportedly do not have the option to recall Evan Ferguson from his loan at AS Roma.

The forward has been heavily linked with an early return to the Premier League after a rollercoaster of a six months in Italy.

After enduring a torrid time at West Ham last season, Ferguson joined Roma on a loan-to-buy deal over the summer in the hope of getting his career back on track.

However, despite showing plenty of promise in pre-season, he has struggled to perform at the Stadio Olimpico. The striker has regularly come under immense criticism from manager Gian Piero Gasperini - although his goal and assist earlier this week highlighted the qualities that the 21-year-old possesses. Nevertheless, reports in Italy are rife that Roma intend to cut ties with the Irishman next month.
