Brighton had a lot of belief in Evan Ferguson when he broke through into Roberto De Zerbi’s side in early 2022.

However, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Seagulls’ young star due to lengthy injuries and a failed loan move to West Ham, and things could be about to go from bad to worse for the Irishman with a south coast return closer than initially thought.

The 21-year-old joined Roma on loan this summer, and he hit the ground running with a series of impressive performances in pre-season friendlies for the Italian club. But those performances are yet to translate to the Serie A or Europa League, with the striker failing to score in any of his eight appearances so far this season.
