Brighton were reportedly one of three Premier League clubs who looked to sign Barcelona prospect Marc Bernal in the summer transfer window.

The Seagulls bolstered their ranks significantly ahead of the 2025/26 season, bringing in a number of reinforcements in defence and also injecting some fresh legs into their frontline.

However, despite the major reshuffle, Fabian Hurzeler opted against bringing in a fresh face or two in midfield, though that does not appear to be for want of trying.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Brighton approached Barcelona over a deal for Bernal, despite how the 18-year-old had been sidelined for the majority of last season after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and damaged his external meniscus.
