Brighton have reportedly seen an inquiry for Botafogo’s Danilo rejected.

The Seagulls appear to be in the market for midfield reinforcements in the January transfer window, with several stars already linked with moves to the Amex Stadium, including Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.

The push for a midfielder comes at a time when speculation is rife that Carlos Baleba will depart at the end of the campaign, with Manchester City, United and Bayern Munich keen.

Several options appear to be under consideration to succeed the Cameroon international, with reports now emerging that Danilo is a name on the Seagulls’ shortlist.
