Brighton could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of Allan Elias, with Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira calling for the young midfielder to be offered a new deal following his impressive form this season.
The 21-year-old played a key role in the Brazilian club’s Copa Libertadores semi-final win over LDU Quito last Friday, leading his side to a 4-3 victory on aggregate, setting up a blockbuster final against Flamengo at the end of the month.
The Brazilian’s performance showcased his importance in the team, but it also highlighted why the youngster no longer warrants being one of the club’s lowest earners. After the game, manager Ferreira spoke to Globo Esporte about a conversation he recently had with Palmeiras' football director Anderson Barros about his No. 40.
