Brighton have announced the signing of Promise David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a loan-to-buy deal.

The Seagulls have been confident that they would sign a replacement for Danny Welbeck following confirmation of the veteran’s move to Chelsea, even after being pipped to the signature of Carlos Espí by Real Madrid.

David scored 15 goals and registered one assist in 37 appearances in all competitions last season for USG, the Belgian outfit in which Tony Bloom owns a minority share.

He also scored and assisted in their 5-1 win over Westerlo earlier this month, his first league appearance of the campaign.
