Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley has addressed speculation regarding his future amid reports linking him with a move away from the south coast. The Seagulls star also revealed that he felt his words from a previous interview had been ‘twisted’.

The Dane made his return to the Brighton squad when they faced La Palmas in a pre-season friendly in Marbella, and he wasted no time in showing why he has the potential to be an important part of Fabian Hurzeler’s plans.

The 24-year-old played the opening 45 minutes in the 2-0 win, setting up Yasin Ayari for a tap-in before scoring himself from 25-yards just seconds later after pouncing on a loose pass.
