Brighton youngster Shane Nti has spoken out on the moment £20million new signing Stefanos Tzimas handed him the ball to secure his hat-trick and complete an emphatic victory against West Brom Under-21s over the weekend.
Greek duo Charalampos Kostoulas and Tzimas were named amongst the substitutes for the Seagulls 4-0 Premier League 2 victory over the Baggies, with the pair coming on to play the final half an hour. However, the biggest talking point of the game was Nti’s impressive performance and the moment he bagged his third of the afternoon late into added time.
After Tzimas was brought down, the Greek forward promptly instructed his younger teammate to step up from the spot - much to the surprise of the hat-trick hero. Speaking to the official Brighton site after the match, Nti said: “I was going to let Stef take it, because it was obviously his first game, but he gave it to me. I don't know many number nines that would give the ball to someone else!”
