Matt O’Riley has spoken out amid rumours that Marseille will try to acquire his services from Brighton permanently over the summer.

The playmaker has made an instant impact in the Ligue 1, making six appearances for the club since putting pen to paper on a season-long loan deal – including two starts in the Champions League.

Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has put plenty of trust in the midfielder in recent weeks, and the show of faith has been justified, with O’Riley bagging a goal and registering an assist against Metz over the weekend.

The Denmark international’s electric start to the campaign has sparked reports that Marseille will push to sign him permanently from Brighton sooner rather than later – and ideally before the World Cup gets underway this summer.
