Former Brighton star Joao Pedro has opened up on how Premier League stalwart James Milner has had a key influence on his rise to an elite level.

The forward was the subject of plenty of interest over the summer but ultimately opted to snub Newcastle in favour of joining Chelsea in a deal worth up to £60million, and he has already settled back in London.

But before Pedro’s departure, the versatile attacker has revealed that he spoke with then-Brighton teammate Milner about the move. The former Watford star explained that he made a promise to veteran star, the Premier League’s second-most capped player, and also received some wisdom from the midfielder in return.
