Brighton defender Jan Paul Van Hecke has spoken about his thoughts on last Saturday’s game against Chelsea and his battle with former teammate Joao Pedro. The two were involved in a training ground bust-up whilst teammates towards the end of last season.
The Seagulls came from behind against the Blues to secure a hard-fought 3-1 victory to take them back into the top half of the Premier League. Fabian Hurzeler’s side looked below par in the first half, but a red card for Trevor Chalobah in the 53rd minute flipped the game on its head.
The visitors equalised in the 77th minute through a Danny Welbeck header, before the away end erupted in the 92nd minute when Maxim De Cuyper scored his first goal for the club with a neat header from close range. The win was capped off in the 100th minute when Brajan Gruda slipped the ball through the Chelsea defence and Welbeck chipped former teammate Robert Sanches to make it 3-1.
