Former Brighton goalkeeper coach Jack Stern has opened up on how he played an instrumental role in the signing of Bart Verbruggen.

The Dutchman joined the club in 2023 from Anderlecht in a deal worth £16.3million, replacing Robert Sanchez, who had left for Chelsea after falling out of favour under then-Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Verbruggen initially arrived as a rotational option between the sticks, sharing responsibilities with Jason Steele, but he has since asserted himself as Brighton's No. 1 over the past 18 months.

His impressive performances have also put him on the radar of top clubs around Europe, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Chelsea all keen on the 23-year-old, with the Seagulls expected to demand in excess of £50m to part ways with the youngster.
