Brighton youngster Jack Hinshelwood has spoken about the squad’s tendency to start games slowly, and more often than not, concede first following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, which saw Hugo Ekitike open the scoring within 46 seconds.
The Seagulls put on a disappointing display against the Reds, conceding the first goal early and the second from a set-piece. Despite the poor performance, Fabian Hurzeler’s side still had many chances, with Diego Gomez missing a couple of clear-cut ones, and others putting long-range efforts wide.
When asked about the early goal and the reason for the slow start, Hinshelwood told BBC Sussex: “Yeah, maybe it was the first goal, but we don't really know why. We just need to find answers this week of why we're not at it straight away. Because like I say, after the second goal went in, all of a sudden, we come to life, and whether it's a belief thing, confidence thing, we don't know.
