Fabian Hurzeler has spoken about Danny Welbeck extending his contract with Brighton.

The striker’s current deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but it emerged earlier this week that he recently triggered his one-year option, which will therefore see him remain at the Amex Stadium until the summer of 2027.

It is understood that the clause was appearance-based.

Welbeck has played a pivotal role in the Seagulls getting their season back on track in recent weeks, scoring in victories over both Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
