Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is reportedly set to undergo surgery on an ankle injury, which will rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

The striker is currently on loan with AS Roma, who acquired the services of the forward over the summer on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy worth £32.9million.

However, despite showing early signs of promise, Ferguson struggled in the Serie A, scoring five goals in 22 appearances for the club. He looked to be finding his feet during the winter period though, before a recurring ankle injury halted his development.

Ferguson has therefore not featured since late January, and it was recently reported that the 21-year-old has returned to the United Kingdom for further discussions about the issue.
