Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has praised Evan Ferguson’s performance against Celtic in the Europa League and spoken about the Irishman’s time in Italy so far.

Despite the striker’s spell at the Stadio Olimpico being full of twists and turns, the Seagulls are still expected to approach the Giallorossi to discuss potentially recalling the forward.

Prior to Thursday night’s trip to Celtic Park, the 21-year-old’s only goal for the club had come in a 3-1 win over newly promoted Cremonese.

His lack of goals and poor start to the season had seen Roma begin to consider cancelling the loan deal so that they could dip back into the market and sign Manchester United striker and Brighton target Joshua Zirkzee.
