Brighton forward Danny Welbeck has praised Lewis Dunk’s performance against Nottingham Forest and spoken about what it’s like having him as a captain and leader in the squad.
Dunk has been a standout for Fabian Hurzeler’s side this season, and after a frustrating start, he’s played a pivotal role in the Seagulls keeping a clean sheet in three of the last four games.
So far this season, according to Opta, he’s won 56.7% of his ground duels (17), and 65.9% of his aerial duels (27), along with making five blocks, 12 tackles, nine interceptions, and winning possession back 56 times.
When asked about the defender’s performance at the City Ground, Welbeck told BBC Sussex: “He was incredible today. I think sometimes it goes amiss, from spectators watching the game, how good Lewis Dunk is, what he brings to Brighton, what he brings to the team, his performance levels, and I think a lot of the stuff goes under the radar, what he does.
