Manchester United have been warned that if they are unable to strike a deal with Brighton for Carlos Baleba this summer, they may not have a chance to in 12 months’ time.

The midfielder has attracted serious interest throughout the summer so far, with Ruben Amorim’s United especially keen with just over two weeks remaining of the transfer window.

Brighton remain clear that their ambition is to keep hold of the ex-Lille star and rule that a deal is ‘highly unlikely’. Baleba is a key part of Fabian Hurzeler’s plans for the upcoming campaign as the Seagulls look to chase down a European finish, and with his contract running until June 2028 means the club are in no rush to sell.
