Ex-Brighton star ‘packed his bags’ to force exit before going on to become a Seagulls hero

A now-Brighton hero once had his heart set on leaving the club and was anticipating an exit.

Brighton fans hold many fond memories of Alexis Mac Allister, however, like most footballing journeys, the road is never straight. For the then-22-year-old Argentine, heading to the English south coast before a global pandemic hit proved mentally challenging, and it prompted the midfielder to abruptly decide he wanted to leave the club as a result. 

While the player made only his debut in March 2020 shortly before football was suspended due to growing concerns over COVID-19, Mac Allister struggled to make his mark as the Seagulls’ new No.10 following the Premier League’s resumption in June.
