Adam Webster has sustained a knee injury whilst away for Brighton’s pre-season camp in Spain, The Brighton Base can exclusively reveal. The defender was absent from the Seagulls’ squad to face Las Palmas on Monday evening following the training ground injury.

There are fears that Webster has damaged the ligaments in his knee, which would force him to spend a significant spell on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old was the subject of concrete interest from Premier League rivals Everton earlier this summer, but a potential long-term injury would see him stay put on the south coast.

Fabian Hurzeler notably did not mention the Englishman’s absence before or after his side’s 2-0 victory over Las Palmas, which saw Matt O’Riley and Yasin Ayari both score in the comfortable success.
