After overhauling their defensive ranks and injecting further quality into their options in the final third, Brighton have now acquired the services of a midfielder.

Following the sale of Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, which followed James Milner’s decision to retire, the Seagulls were starting to look short of options centrally due to injuries to Jack Hinshelwood and Yasin Ayari.

However, Fabian Hurzeler’s side acted swiftly on deadline day to reach an agreement with VfB Stuttgart for Chema Andres.

The Spaniard has put pen to paper on a five-year contract on the Sussex coast, with the total package, including add-ons, understood to be in the region of £19million.
