Brighton were held to a goalless draw in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League play-off tie against Tromsø.

Fabian Hurzeler fielded a strong lineup in a bid to get the job done at the Romssa Arena, but his side struggled to truly est their Norwegian opponents.

Ibrahim Osman and Georginio Rutter both forced saves from Jakob Haugaard, with Yasin Ayari also testing the 34-year-old with a strike from close range in the second half.

However, the most clear-cut chances fell the way of Tromsø. The Eliteserien outfit carved open some good opportunities on the counter, with Bart Verbruggen forced into action before Isak Vadebu missed the target when sent through on goal.
