All eight Brighton players at the World Cup have played their first group stage games. Diego Gomez and Ferdi Kadioglu suffered disappointing defeats, while Pascal Gross and Yasin Ayari enjoyed their first taste of glory at the tournament with big wins.

Bart Verbruggen, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mats Wieffer, and Maxim De Cuyper had to settle for draws.
