Well, here we are. The Brighton Base’s 400th article, which feels like an apt time to lift the lid on the outlet, the team behind it, and what the future holds for the site.
My name is Charlie Parker-Turner, the founder of The Brighton Base, and the writer behind the anonymous byline you will have seen across plenty of our stories. There it is, the mask is off. Mystery solved.
After spending four years working for national newspapers, covering all sports at all hours, it became clear to me that media is heading in a new direction.
AI has been incorporated at a rate of knots, but at the expense of community and a human touch. Clicks are prioritised over simple grammatical accuracy. Thorough coverage is simply becoming a thing of the past.
