Aston Villa came from behind to secure a 4-3 victory over Brighton on Wednesday evening in an action-packed clash at the Amex Stadium.
The Seagulls stormed into a two-goal lead after 29 minutes, with Jan Paul van Hecke bundling home an opener before Pau Torres diverted Jack Hinshelwood’s cross into the back of his own net.
Villa quickly hit back to half the deficit through Ollie Watkins, who tapped home from close range after Torres and Ian Maatsen were afforded plenty of space down the left. Unai Emery’s side then equalised on the cusp of half-time, with a long ball from Morgan Rogers catching out the Brighton backline, allowing Watkins time and space to steer his effort beyond Bart Verbruggen.
