Brighton’s winless run in December continued this weekend when they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners dominated proceedings from the get-go, with skipper Martin Odegaard whipping his strike beyond Bart Verbruggen in the 14th minute after being afforded plenty of time and space on the edge of the Brighton penalty area.

Arsenal then doubled their lead in fortunate style just seven minutes after the half-time break, with Georginio Rutter flicking Declan Rice’s corner into the back of his own net.

Brighton did manage to find a way back into the game against the run of play, with Diego Gomez converting from close range after Yasin Ayari’s strike ricocheted back to him off the post, but the Paraguayan’s goal only proved to be a consolation.
