Brighton had a busy transfer window, with six players coming in and 22 departing on either loan or permanent deals. However, they could’ve been even busier if they’d have been successful in their chase of five other reported targets.

It would seem as though the Seagulls were keen to bring in another midfielder and a full-back, with multiple bids being rejected for both right-backs and left-backs. But who were the five players they missed out on and what happened to them? The Brighton Base takes a look…

Brighton were linked to the Moroccan midfielder early on in the window, and reports suggested that personal terms had been agreed and that the club would be approaching Marseille imminently to submit a bid. However, that offer never arrived and the 25-year-old ultimately made a late move to La Liga side Girona for a fee of around £5million.
