Brighton knocked Oxford United for six with a scintillating display in the Carabao Cup second round, with Albion debutants Olivier Boscagli, Stefanos Tzimas and Tommy Watson among the goalscorers at the Kassam Stadium.
Following a frantic start to proceedings, Seagulls centre-back Boscagli opened the scoring on his debut in the 13th minute with a deflected strike. Provider Brajan Gruda soon turned goalscorer as the German latched onto a lofted ball forward from Joel Veltman, volleying past Oxford’s Matt Ingram to fire the Albion two goals ahead.
The visitors continued to dominate in the second half, with Diego Gomez the one to react and nudge Gruda’s corner-kick delivery into the net. Brighton’s substitutes then made their impact, as Tzimas coolly converted his first two goals for the Seagulls following a duo of assists from Harry Howell. To top off the Albion's impressive cup display, Watson curled his strike into the top far corner to conclude an emphatic night in Oxford for the Sussex boys.
