Brighton Women opened their Subway Players Cup campaign in style with a 4-0 victory against Charlton Athletic at the Broadfield Stadium on Wednesday evening.
On an evening where the Albion dominated, midfielder Olaug Tvedten bagged a brace, with defender Caitlin Hayes and summer signing Sophie Peskett ensuring their side’s intent was rewarded.
Tvedten produced a superb first-time finish inside the opening 14 minutes, striking across goal after a neat one-two with striker Emily Murphy.
Lively winger Olivia García soon forced Charlton goalkeeper Anna Koivunen into an important save, while Tvedten squandered her chance to double Albion’s advantage from the spot as her penalty kick struck the base of the left post in the 53rd minute.
