Brighton Women suffered a 2-0 defeat to London City Lionesses, leaving the Seagulls still waiting to secure their first victory of the Women’s Super League campaign.
The hosts’ opener came just before the half-hour mark in Bromley, with Alexia Putellas firing a well-taken strike beyond Chiamaka Nnadozie.
The Nigerian had initially denied a near-post effort from midfielder Grace Geyoro after the France international ran beyond Brighton’s Lia Wälti, but the goalkeeper failed to keep out the follow-up.
London City continued to create as they took control of second-half proceedings, with Putellas heading onto the post in the 54th minute after a characteristically threatening free-kick from defender Mapi León.
