Brighton Women’s player ratings, analysis and reaction as Seagulls come from behind to secure bragging rights over Crystal Palace

After beating Wolves 6-0 on the road in midweek, Brighton Women returned home to Broadfield Stadium on Sunday to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Women’s Super League.
Goals from Caitlin Hayes and Sophie Peskett secured victory over their rivals in what could prove to be a pivotal match for new manager Arturo Ruiz.
Just two points separated these sides at kick-off, but Palace made it clear from the opening whistle that their priority was keeping the Albion at bay rather than putting their rivals under pressure.
The Eagles sat back and allowed the home side to dominate possession early on, with Brighton enjoying 86% of the ball after 10 minutes but struggling to break down the opposition’s low block.
