When Brighton sign a youngster, there is always a level of expectation that they will develop into a key player further down the line. When the Seagulls acquired the services of Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht, there was a greater sense of certainty that he would thrive.

Naturally, every player is one poor performance away from a social media barrage of comments claiming they ‘won’t meet their potential’. However, for all of his teething problems, there never seemed to be any doubt that Verbruggen would go on to become one of the best in the business.

The Dutchman has enjoyed a sensational start to the season, keeping six clean sheets in nine Premier League appearances. He has also kept clean sheets in both of his Conference League appearances, including an impressive display to spare the Albion’s blushes against Jablonec last month.
