Danny Welbeck has tearfully bid farewell to Brighton, though his parting words may have left Seagulls supporters with more questions than answers.
The veteran penned a two-year contract with Chelsea on Friday, after a quick-fire agreement was reached between the two clubs earlier this week.
New Blues boss Xabi Alonso made it clear heading into the summer transfer window that as part of his overhaul at Stamford Bridge, he wanted to inject leadership and Premier League experience into his ranks.
As such, Granit Xhaka, John Stones, Jordan Henderson and Welbeck were among those earmarked as targets, with the latter duo now within Alonso’s squad. Although their presence may not be wholly felt on the pitch, behind the scenes they are expected to make their mark.
