While the hosts scored either side of the interval through Océane Hurtré and Lily Crosthwaite, the Seagulls turned the tide late on to salvage a point.

Birmingham’s opener came inside eight minutes as Hurtré stole the ball from Brighton centre-back Caitlin Hayes before slotting her effort past goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The hosts could have extended their advantage moments later when Crosthwaite drove past a struggling Hayes, but the winger’s strike was pushed away by Nnadozie.
