Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler believes Pascal Struijk’s red card against Sunderland was a ‘really harsh’ decision.

The Seagulls showed a grittier side to their game as they battled to a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.

Maxim De Cuyper opened the scoring on Wearside, tucking a neat effort past Robin Roefs after being played through by Pascal Gross.

Struijk was then shown a straight red card by referee Thomas Bramall after VAR ruled that the summer signing had hauled Wilson Isidor to the ground, denying the striker a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
