Brighton came from behind to book their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 win over Manchester United on Wednesday night.
The Seagulls gave themselves a tall order at Old Trafford, conceding twice within the opening 10 minutes.
Shea Lacey opened the scoring after eight minutes when he whipped a fine strike in at the near post, before a series of defensive errors saw Mason Mount double the Red Devils’ lead less than two minutes later.
Brighton soon improved, though, and it was something of a goalkeeping mishap which handed them a lifeline. After United’s Karl Darlow opted not to collect a long, sweeping pass from Jaouen Hadjam, Charalampos Kostoulas pounced to halve the deficit from a tight angle.
